I thought flash was just what a lot of sites use when they post those annoying intros before getting to the main content of the site? Those things are a waste of time, and aggravating too, especially since I still use dial-up at home.

ubiquity
What about being able to have the most people possible view my site? Doesnt flash greatly diminish the amount of people that can visit my site? I am worried about deploying a technology that most people aren't going to even be able to see.

Macromedia coined the phrase "Rich Internet Application" (RIA) in early 2001 after seeing what developers and designers were building in Macromedia Flash. It was clear that these applications extended the design limitations and interaction constraints of traditional HTML applications.
The impact of Rich Internet Applications has been incredible, both in breadth and depth. We're seeing everyone from Internet hobbyists to large enterprises building RIAs—
and seeing their business improve dramatically as a result.

It is at the heart of this idea that our business model is focused. Our primary business, developing advanced web-deployed applications and the concept for freedom of experience are both rooted in this seemingly simply concept.
To combine the strengths of the internet:
  • Rapid dissemination of information
  • Abillity to aggregate large amounts of customer data

With the strengths of client side desktop applications:
  • Ease of use
  • Ability to customize the user interface to suit individual work-flow patterns
  • More stable and robust work environment

jadeFX Design can provide all users a better platform from which to work more efficiently and more effectively. Of course
approaching advanced web objectives requires an advanced level of initital thinking.

What is a Rich Internet Application (RIA)? The short answer, an RIA is the answer to failed user experiences on the web.

In the late 90's it was accepted knowledge that within 5 years "businesses either needed to be in business on the net, or be out of business." And while the internet continues to become a larger part of our daily lives, it is also clear that a business can be successful with little or no web presence, however, conducting business and staying competative will prove more difficult.

For those copmanies currently considering an improved web presence, or a new initiative, there are a few key points to consider:

At the core of any enhanced user experience is a solid foundation.

The makeup of that foundation should not be limited to a site that is merely fast-loading and easy-to-navigate, but should also include more advanced features like content management, current news & events management and customer forums.

A site's foundation should include all of that and it should be affordable.
